Review: Grief is the Thing with Feathers by Max Porter

Brilliant.

A friend recommended this one to me, and I can see why.

Its a short one about a young family coping with the death of their mum, with the help of a crow. This sounds a bit depressing but it isn’t – it turned out to be one if the most uplifting books I’ve read.

I have two favourite bits. One where the kids describe how they stop lying to their dad to be nice to him:

My heart nearly exploded here. Second favourite bit was when he used the phrase “Wankerama”, and I burst out laughing on the tram like a weirdo:

I can’t recommend this enough.
