Review: The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt by Edmund Morris

November is presidential election month, so here are a few books about (or by presidents) to get you in the mood.

An awesome book. Teddy Roosevelt crammed more into his years than I can imagine – he was bonkers: war hero, cowboy, Police Commissioner, Assistant Secretary of the Navy, Assemblyman, Governor, vice President, and President. Apparently he could read a book a day.

And he wrote the definitive book on the Naval War of 1812.

My favourite bit? When he says, “Speak softly and carry a big stick“.

Highly recommended.
