Review: The Mighty Dead: Why Homer Matters by Adam Nicholson

Not so much a book about why the classics matter, but what those ancient heroes mean.

I was a bit sceptical about this book at first (seemed self indulgent to talk about the writer’s sailing trip for so long at the start), but I’ve ended up wishing I’d read it before either the Iliad or the Odyssey.

Recommended if you’ve even a passing interest in the classics.
