Review: Flatterland by Ian Stewart

There’s no hiding it – it’s a maths book. Or maybe a physics book? Whatever it is, it takes you through all of the dimensions from 2D to whatever else is out there (in here?). It’s brilliant – I can actually understand it. If you struggled with A Brief History of Time, you could give this a whirl, it’s much more readable.

Anyway, it boils down to this: it’s all bonkers and we know nothing. But that we know this much is a near miracle.

Favourite bit is that there’s a Space Hopper guiding you through it all:

This was recommended to me after reading Flatland by A. Square – might be another one to read if you have time.
